A Family Visit, A Rodeo, and Skill Building

The end of June is almost here and I have no clue how that happened.  Ryan is officially a Fifth Grader now (I promoted him since I am the Teacher and Principal of Curry Curriculum) and Summer Break is here.  The thing is, that we don’t actually do Summer Break here.  The schedule may beContinue reading “A Family Visit, A Rodeo, and Skill Building”

World Autism Awareness Day – Do the Right Thing

Ryan wanted to write a blog post about his thoughts for World Autism Awareness Day which is today, April 2nd. Here is what he had to say: HARD TO REALLY SAY BUT I WILL TRY. CARE ENOUGH TO DO ACTIONS MORE THAN JUST WORDS.  TREATMENT OF AUTISTICS NEEDS IMPROVEMENT. “Ryan, people are going to askContinue reading “World Autism Awareness Day – Do the Right Thing”

The Library Tour and Meeting the Mayor

This week, we finally got back into the swing of school after having two weeks of other activities that impacted our ability to have “regular days” at school.  Ryan had his EEG two weeks ago (and we should be getting the results soon) and then we had Lenae Crandall of HEED RPM in town for 8Continue reading “The Library Tour and Meeting the Mayor”

24 Hour EEG

On Friday, Ryan had a 24 hour EEG (Electroencephalography is an electrophysiological monitoring method to record electrical activity of the brain.)  Ryan’s doctor, Dr. Rossignol, suggested that he have a 24 hr EEG to determine if he was having absence seizures that might be interfering with his ability to speak.  Ryan was seen by Dr. Rossignol in February whileContinue reading “24 Hour EEG”

Officer Morgan and a Presentation Which Includes a Speech by Ryan

Ryan and I love having a blog.  Finding time to update it often proves to be a challenge though.  I really believe that there are not enough hours in a day! Two weeks ago, we met Officer Chris Morgan, the Mental Health Officer for North Richland Hills (NRH) Police Department.  I found out about himContinue reading “Officer Morgan and a Presentation Which Includes a Speech by Ryan”

Four Short Stories by Ryan (One is dedicated to Grace) and a Short Video

I love Ryan’s stories.  I am probably biased because I am his mom, but I really love how he weaves in things and ideas that are in his mind.  In the following stories, you can tell that he has a lot on his mind:  learning to speak, the beach, his sister, his sister growing upContinue reading “Four Short Stories by Ryan (One is dedicated to Grace) and a Short Video”

More Stories by Ryan (They Keep Getting Better and Better!) and an Update on Our School Goals

Ryan has been really into creative writing with Adriana lately.  He has recently written two of my favorite stories to date!  I honestly love how he incorporates what is going on in his life and weaves it into the stories. Here is one that he started with by spelling:  THINK THAT I HAVE TO TELLContinue reading “More Stories by Ryan (They Keep Getting Better and Better!) and an Update on Our School Goals”
